IIID 2021: the first edition of
a great opportunity
Italy India Innovation Day 2021 has been the first edition of the call for start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs based in India that were looking for international opportunities.
The initiative, promoted by AIICP the India-Italy Association for Cooperation and Partnership established in Milan in 2019 by a prominent group of business leaders, associations and representatives from the media, society and culture, was held on July 14th, 2021 and saw the presence of several Italian companies and 15 Indian scaleups selected among the more than 100 applications received.
Members of the AIICP included Italian companies such as Bonfiglioli Riduttori (industrial automation), Danieli (metal industry), Dell’Orto (mechanics/automotive), Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (transport/railway), Fincantieri (shipyards), Generali Group (finance/insurance) , Marcegaglia (Steel Processing), Maire Tecnimont (chemical/oil & gas) Noonic (digital industry), Piaggio&C. (vehicles), Pininfarina (design/automotive), Sace (finance/insurance), Snam (energy), Intesa San Paolo (banking), as well as Indian corporations such as JSW Group (Steel, Energy, Cement and Infrastructure) (vehicles/automotive).
There was also the presence of Confindustria (Italian industry association), Italian Embassy to India, Indian Embassy to Italy. The Italy India Innovation Day 2021 also hosted Enel Innovation Hubs (energy/utility) among the Italian companies meeting with the Indian start-ups and scale-ups.
Italy India Innovation Day 2021 looked for Indian start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs with innovative technologies, products and services mainly, but not only, in the mobility, energy, digital, deep-tech, fintech, and green chemistry fields.
Looking at the future
After the success of the first edition, AIICP decided to organize the 2022 edition with the aim to continuing creating business relationship e opportunities for both Italian and Indian companies willing to develop innovative solutions in many fields that can help overcome the many challenges we are all facing today linked to social and environmental issues. Energy, logistics, construction, international collaboration, digital interaction, cybersecurity, space economy, industry 4.0, are among the sectors at the center of a deep renovation where innovative companies and scaleups can play a key role.
